Once again, B&O didn't compromise on performance simply for the sake of style. The Beomaster 7000 is a high specification receiver delivering 110 watts continuous power/channel into 8 ohms, has very low noise and distortion levels and is packed with functionality. In addition to a high quality stereo output, it is equipped with an infra-red transceiver for communication with a Beolink 7000 remote control unit with the necessary processing ability to relay commands to the other sources. It also has comprehensive safety features to protect the amplifier and speakers in case of malfunction or incorrect connection.
The tuner section couples high sensitivity with high selectivity to ensure clean reception. B&O utilized proprietary, innovative and advanced technology to produce a tuner that could provide a solution to these conflicting demands. The result is a unit with exceptionally clean FM reception having a high signal to noise ratio spec. The stereo decoder provides optimal stereo channel separation providing the signal-to-noise ratio in the received signal is above 50 dB. When weaker signals are received, the Beomaster 7000 automatically switches to mono. You can also select mono manually.
The Beomaster 7000 has a built-in RDS decoder which gives access to an 8 character RDS readout, the "PS" or "Programme Service Name". The RDS data is displayed directly on the Beolink 7000 remote control whenever a station is selected that broadcasts RDS information. This includes the stations stored on the 24 available pre-sets. The Beolink 7000 also displays the RDS data in situations when placed in a room equipped with a B&O Local Control System.

The power amplifier in Beomaster 7000 features Automatic Power Handling Control as a protection for both the loudspeakers and the amplifier in case of overload or shorting. The circuit monitors the critical stage in the output amplifier, and if prescribed limits are exceeded, the microprocessor lowers the volume to below the critical level. The temperatures of the cooling surfaces are also monitored, and if the temperature becomes too high, the volume level is lowered. If the cause of the overload is eliminated, the volume can be increased above the previously critical level. Only under very exceptional circumstances does the Automatic Power Handling Control circuit overide the selected volume setting, but it can prevent the system from serious damage. For example, if the loudspeaker outputs are short-circuited by accident, the Beomaster simply switches to stand-by to protect the amplifier in an effective way. Similarly, if a defect occurs in the amplifier, the circuit protects the loudspeaker against direct current, which would otherwise destroy them.

In order to dissipate heat from the power amplifier effectively, a low-noise fan is placed inside the Beomaster 7000. If the cooling ribs of the output transistors reach a temperature of more than 50 degrees, the fan cuts-in at low speed, rising to maximum speed when the temperature reaches 95 degrees. Only by playing the amplifier at excessive levels for a prolonged time would the temperature rise sufficiently for the fan to start up, or otherwise for the Automatic Power Handling Control to become active..

The receiver is equipped with B&O's Powerlink connection system. This system is used for connecting Beolab active speakers. The volume-adjusted line level signal for both left and right signals is carried in one cable, together with data signals for a Beolab Speaker status display. A switch on each Beolab loudspeaker determines whether it is intended for the left or right channel.
A pair of loudspeakers can either be connected the usual way with one cable to each loudspeaker. Alternatively a BUS system can be employed where the signal is looped through one of the loudspeakers and then on to the next, or both methods may be combined if more than one pair of speakers is to be connected. Up to 10 pairs and up to 100 metres of Power Link cable is allowed.
