The Threshold FET Nine pre-amplifier was the culmination of more than fifteen years experience in the design and manufacture of high performance by the Threshold Corp. The designer at the time was the famed Nelson Pass who co-founded the company. The FET Nine (as well as the FET Ten) were the last of the Nelson Pass designed pre-amps to emerge from the original Threshold Company

The circuit designs embodied in the Threshold Nine pre-amplifier employ engineering concepts which were at the forefront of audio technology. The minimal signal path design allowed all the detail from the most complex source material to achieve a spatially accurate soundstage of palpable ambience. The pre-amplifier itself contributing no sound of its own.

The topologies selected for inclusion in each particular Threshold pre-amplifier system component are the result of thorough technical analysis and extended listening using a variety of master and commercial music sources and reference equipment. 

This preamp has provisions for five line inputs, plus a superb phono section which can be set for either for a MM or MC cartridge. Gain, impedance, and capacitive cartridge loading characteristics can be internally selected. 

Two tape decks may be connected with full flexibilty in routing of recording and playback signals. There is an outboard power supply to keep any transformer interaction away from the pre-amp.

There is an external power supply to minimize any possible interference from an internal power section. The unit is designed for a 240v/50 Hz mains supply.
